A beautiful sculptural firepit with an African Safari scene hand carved around the ball. A pair of elephants make their way around the ball, blissfully unaware of the lion that awaits them. On the other side of the ball is gentle giraffe lifting his head into the mopani treetops as a rhino works below. You will also find an eagle soaring and a leopard creeping along the base of the trees. Beautifully hand crafted into the 6mm steel ball the scenes come alive when the firepit is lit, making a perfect centrepiece for your garden.
Our new gas kit works beautifully with this design to give a convenient controllable heat. The gas burner is available for LPG bottled gas or plumbed in natural gas, the LPG version needs a minimum 19kg gas bottle and is supplied with a rubber hose and regulator. The natural gas version must be fitted by a competent person. If the pipe is to be buried an underground fitting kit is available for use with an MDPE gas pipe.
Please note that shipping will be added at the checkout. This item is a standard design firepit and is usually made to order. To discuss making customised changes to the firepit please contact us on andy@thefirepitcompany.co.uk
All of our Firepits are crated by hand, resulting in a unique piece each and every time.
Each Fireball starts life as two hemispheres of 6mm steel. The two hemispheres are then welded together and cleaned to remove any oil or debris from the construction.
Designs are hand drawn on the balls by our artist. Standard balls follow one of our design themes, pulling in elements to fulfil the brief. Bespoke balls are created following a customer consultation to capture specific requirements for that ball. Each drawing develops at its own pace and creates a life of its own. The ball is then cut entirely by hand using a plasma cutter. The cutting process inevitably results in additions to the drawing, as the look of each individual ball springs to life.
The finished balls can be painted with a heat proof paint or they can be left to weather and develop a rust patina naturally. If left in their natural finish it will take many decades for a ball to rust away, and as the rust develops they look very organic in an appealing industrial way. A beautiful addition to any garden.
Once a ball is finished our team carefully prepare the ball for dispatch, ready to create a lifetime of memories in its new home.
Andy Gage
My name is Andy Gage, I am a 34 year old farmer from Haverhill, Suffolk. My wife and I have a mixed farm with Poultry, Horses and Cropping. I took over the farm when I was 21 and have been looking for new things to do on the farm ever since.
I started making Fireballs in 2013 as a diversification to keep me busy during our slow periods on the farm. I was inspired by the variety of Firepits available on the market and I felt that I would enjoy producing individual, artistic Fireballs. I really enjoy the whole process from discussing ideas and inspirations with clients for their Fireball, and then turning their ideas into reality.
The business is growing rapidly, but our attention to detail and quality on behalf of our clients will be at the forefront of our business as we go forward creating unique, individual art works.
